My Beautiful Tia

by Louise Pridmore

Curious Tia!

Curious Tia!

This is Tia - she's a wonderful 5 generation Pedigree Working Cocker Spaniel - and she's 10 weeks old in these photographs.

She has a brilliant temperament and is very 'chilled'.

I'm really looking forward to being able to take her out for a walk and hope that she is a good girl out of the house as well as in.

Tia is almost house trained and is responding to the 'Sit' Command only, so far.

At the minute, when I give her training sessions with some tasty puppy treats, she wants to continually bite and scratch at my hand to get the treat and doesn't really want to pay attention to what I'm asking of her.

I'm hoping this is just because she's so young and is an excited puppy.

She does however always sit without being told when dinner is being put down and then eats it very slowly - she sometimes even sits down during her dinner.

I'm so pleased with my new puppy, she's adorable and I love her.

Tia is certainly a beautiful working cocker spaniel puppy! Her golden coat is fairly unusual as I haven't seen many working cockers in that colour - if I'm wrong, then I'm sure someone will correct me!

Keep the updated photos coming!

Tia In Begging Mode

by Louise Pridmore

Tia - In Begging Mode!

Tia - In Begging Mode!

Update: Tia is now nearly 6 months old.

She loves nothing more than to spend time with me and Matt, and to curl up on the settee with us at night-time.

She is much better trained now and is also much easier to train.

She no longer scratches and bites at my hand for her treat but waits patiently or even begs when asked, as you can see from the picture.

She now also gives her paw, lays down, and stays until told to come.

Even though Tia is calm in the house, once we get outside and into the fields she is very energetic and a big fusspot.

She loves to play with all other dogs and to say hello to anyone walking by.

She is turning out to be (generally) a good girl!

Tia and Tasha

Tia and Tasha

Tia and Tasha

My two dogs, Tia and Tasha, are basically my life. I love them so much.

Tasha is about 12 and I'm worried she's not going to be with us for much longer :(

I love them both, here's a picture of them a couple of years ago.

Comment from Pauline (Web Owner)

It's so sad when our beloved companions are nearing their 'Winter years'. I can't bear to think about it without tears welling up in my eyes.

When I read your words, I did just that - I couldn't help it, it sounded so sad and painful.

Perhaps now is the time to really connect with your dogs; give them lot's of extra lovely cuddles and look into their eyes. Tell them how much you love them and that you'll miss them. It won't make them any younger, but I'm sure they'll understand what you're saying, and it will make you feel a lot better too.

Why not take some more photographs to help you keep your warm memories alive?

Let's hope you have many more good years with both Tia and Tasha!

Don't Give Up Hope
by: Jason

Don't give up hope Courtney. My cocker spaniel lived to the ripe old age of 15 - yes, 15 years old - and he battled on until the end. He walked everywhere, although he slowed down a bit towards the end, but that's to be expected isn't it?

We all have to go sometime, but I think your dogs have a lot of life left in them yet.

Tasha and Tia
by: Chris Jefferdson

Please do not despair. My cocker spaniel, Suzie, is 16 years old - full of arthritis, cataracts on both eyes, slightly deaf but... she loves her short walks, as they are now, and eats well - both breakfast and evening meal.

She sleeps by my bedside in her own bed, snores a lot and has lots of tummy noises. Suzie does struggle a little with the stairs but she gets there.

I work at a Hospital and I always remember a Physiotherapist telling me never to live in a bungalow as your legs become very weak. So whilst Suzie is making the stairs I know she is still strong.

I love my old girl. She is the seventh cocker spaniel I have owned and she's the longest living and the best for temperament and a great all rounder.

I hope she makes twenty, I really do, she, like yours are, is my life and I love her so much.

Good Luck and don't tick them off yet, there may be a long way to go.
Best wishes Chris Jefferson.
